Hello, my name is Colleen, but my internet name is Alexandra! (AKA ALEX)
Who am I?
I’m Alex, a animator/artist! I have a YouTube channel called Alex and Vanilla, where I post animation memes and speedpaints about video games I like, other YouTube channels I watch, and even my own stories I create on my own.
One other thing about me, is that I LOVE playing video games!
I play the video games ROBLOX, Among Us, and sometimes MineCraft.
Also, I’m OBSESSED with the game called Five Nights at Freddy’s!
(THIS IS THE SCRIPT IM USING FOR MY YOUTUBE COMMENTARY VIDEO. THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION AND NOT A HATE POST!!!)
Roblox is an online gameplatform and game creation system developed by Roblox Corporation that allows users to program games and play games created by other users. Created by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel in 2004 and released in 2006, the platform hosts user-created games of multiple genres coded in the programming languageLua. For most of Roblox‘s history, it was relatively small, both as a platform and a company. Roblox began to grow rapidly in the second half of the 2010s, and this growth has been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.[7][8] – the Roblox Wikipedia, if you’re curious about it.
As most Roblox players know, THEY DELETED THE OOF SOUND!!1!!!!!11!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!1!
“Why?”, you ask, “IT WAS SUCH A CLASSIC SOUND”, you scream at the top of your lungs. Well, I’m about to tell you.
“Oof” sound effect
From its release until November 2020, Roblox‘s sound effect for when a character dies was an “oof” sound, which became a substantial part of the platform’s reputation due to its status as a meme.[76] The sound was originally produced by video game composer Tommy Tallarico for the 2000 video game Messiah, and he and Roblox entered into a copyright dispute. The dispute ended in 2022 when Roblox pulled the sound from their platform and replaced it with a new sound effect.[77][78][79] -copied from the roblox wiki again :/
This made a TON of people mad, (including me) because Roblox only had a few billion dollars to buy the sound. There was another way the OOF sound could’ve been on the website, because Roblox made a deal with Tommy Tallarico (the creator of the OOF sound) that within a year, they would add a sound marketplace on the avatar shop where you can buy your own death sound. They made the deal in 2020, so it’s been over a year and Roblox still hasn’t made the sound marketplace, so Tommy asked Roblox to buy the OOF sound, but Roblox said ” N O . ” and now my friends, we have no oof, and it has been with a new sound effect.
HOW IS ROBLOX OK WITH THIS HORRIBLE PIECE OF TRASH!
You’re probably wondering why Roblox stole Tommy Tallarico’s sond effect? How did Tommy Tallarico feel all these years when Roblox was making so much money off the sound he made? Why did Roblox not just buy the sound? Did Tommy just figure out that Roblox was using his sound all these years? Your questions are about to be answered.
Back in the early days of Roblox, Roblox was looking for a death sound for the site. Somehow, the OOF sound was in a copyright free sound package for developers to download. They never heard of Tommy Tallarico’s game, Messiah, so they were probably happy making so much money off of what they thought was “their sound”. So Roblox did not “steal” the OOF sound.
I actually don’t know if Tommy knew Roblox was using his sound. If he didn’t, then I guess he never heard of Roblox either. If he did, maybe he didn’t care at first because Roblox was such a small game. BUT! As we know, the deal he made with Roblox was made in 2020, and that’s the year when the pandemic happened and kids weren’t in school, and were playing Roblox.
Roblox began to grow rapidly in the second half of the 2010s, and this growth has been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.[7][8] -according to Roblox’s Wikipedia. :0
And one question that won’t be answered….
“Why did Roblox just not buy the sound?”
I don’t know, sometimes roblox can just be pretty cheap.
Then we got an update on the OOF drama. About 6 days ago, a YouTuber named KreekCraft
made a video about him calling Roblox to bring back the OOF sound. He tried but Roblox said ” N O . ” (again) BUT THEN, he called Tommy Tallarico. KreekCraft convinced Tommy Tallarico to make a website called savetheoof.com.
savetheoof.com is where you can buy the original OOF merchandise that Roblox took down off their store :/ You can also download the OOF sound effect for free to save into your Roblox files, so when you die in roblox, the OOF sound will play! You can also buy 20 different sound variations of the OOF sound to download! So I guess everything isn’t so bad now. We still have the sound marketplace to look forward to, where you can buy the OOF sound with Robux along with basically any other sound people upload. So when that comes out, you can basically play “Never Gonna Give You Up” when you die in Roblox, and RICKROLL the whole server. Until that happens, (unless you download the OOF sound on savetheoof.com) we are stuck with the cat throwing up a hairball sound effect for now……
